unmasked.poker Hero League Season 1 is finished - and it was epic!
The first season of the unmasked.poker Hero League has recently come to an end. First of all we would like to congratulate the winners!

And second of all, we would like to thank each and every one of you, the participants, the unmasked.poker Heroes and Villains. You have made this wonderfully exciting adventure possible. And we, the whole unmasked.poker team, are enormously grateful to you. Not all of us played in the tournaments. Nevertheless it was a great pleasure to see unmasked.poker being used for what it was created for: to bring lots of poker fun to lots of poker players.
The feedback we got from you during the tournaments is priceless. You have shown great interest in improving the platform, commitment to the game and, last but not least, a lot of sportsmanship. We are proud of you. So, from the bottom of our hearts: thank you!
It was a wild ride
There were certainly several players who were in first place overall at one point in the season. But, honestly, not for quite some time. Towards the middle of the season, Tyro, our overall winner, grabbed the lead for the second time and never relinquished it after that. Tyro finished in the points a whopping 19 times. And, even if we had doubts whether the point system could lead to boredom at the end of the season, it remained exciting and very close until literally the last final table. Only at this table Elias1973 just missed to pass Tyro.
Further down the rankings, the action was also intense. On the last day, 26 players could have made it into the top ten. Mila from the "Herzdamenclub" ended up in 10th place. Stine, also a Herzdame who was in the top ten for a long time, was only overtaken on the last day of play and became the bubble girl of the first season.
There are many great stories that come to mind when we think about the last 3 months. On Day 18, for example, Vale lost a huge pot to Jonas, an unmasked.poker employee, and had only a few chips left. But Vale didn't get discouraged, started a race to catch up, won all the chips back and then even the whole tournament. Or bfwd, another long-time unmasked.poker hero, won a total of three tournaments, two of them back to back!

So, all in all, we are very glad that we opted for the scoring system suggested by Potti. It even coped with Tyro's sometimes seemingly overpowering dominance. What we also noticed from the beginning was a ravenous hunger of all participants for the league points. Even we ourselves, at least those of us who played, could not escape this. In this respect, the points system actually worked perfectly.
Show yourself, or else...!
Fortunately, all tournaments ran through to the end. However, as you may have noticed, we encountered some previously unknown technical issues. For example, there was an automatic server update that almost brought the game to a halt a couple of times before we could shut it down. Another problem occurred when there were too many spectators at the rail of tournament tables. This caused the quality of the video chat to drop drastically, so we decided to disable the rail for the rest of the season and replace our video chat tool in the near future. By the way, we have already found a worthy replacement, so don't worry.
Speaking of video chat, that was another big topic. Even in the early stages of the season, we received several reports of players turning off their cameras during the game. While this was allowed and very understandable from a tactical standpoint, at some point the vast majority of the field was playing without a camera. While we like the traditional online poker game, we really wanted to offer you something different: the game of unmasked online poker. This is what we promised you at the beginning. So at some point we felt we had to react. Very late in the season we introduced a new rule: The camera had to be activated to play, otherwise you automatically sat out. It wasn't an easy decision, but we were very glad we made it: Tables full of happy faces were the result. And that's what we wanted to achieve with unmasked.poker in the first place.
The "Champions - Event"
All winners of the day have qualified for the Champions Event. The second season is unfortunately still a bit up in the air, so we will bring the Champions Event forward a bit. Since we don't want to keep the daily winners waiting too long, we will play the Champions Event already in September!
